Production Goals

At Bond Energetics, we understand that in the world of specialized chemical production — precision, performance, and reliability are paramount. That’s why we’ve built our CDGNPI (Canadian Defence Grade Nitrocellulose Production Initiative) Program around core principles: delivering high-quality consistent energetic materials, tailored to your specific needs, with an unwavering commitment to the environment and allied national security procurement initiatives.

CDGNPI Program Outcome

Our CDGNPI program will result in grade A (Defense Grade) Nitrocellulose products that will be available with a nitration range of 12.5% to 13.5%. This is the highest quality grade, with a high level of nitration, suitable for defense-grade propellants and ammunition. Our high-nitrogen content products propagate good energetic properties paired with reliable stability.

Product stability is critical.

Stability refers to the material’s ability to maintain its chemical properties, performance, and safety over time and under various conditions. It is a crucial factor in nitrocellulose, particularly when it is used in sensitive applications such as ammunition, propellants, or explosives. Ultimately, by ensuring chemical, thermal, mechanical, and hydrolytic Stability, we are able to ensure a consistent product an extended shelf life.

Energetic Exploration: RDX, RDX Derivatives, and TNT

Our interest extends beyond nitrocellulose. Being able to provide our customers with a range of advanced energetic materials, each with unique properties and applications, is important to us.
The production of RDX, a key component in a variety of formulations, is an additional production interest held by Bond Energetics. Our approach, likely utilizing the efficient Bachmann process, is designed for optimal yields and minimal environmental impact. It’s about responsible production, from start to finish.

Advanced Energetic Production 2029

And we’re taking it a step further. We’ll also be producing RDX derivatives, incorporating stearic acid as a coating agent. Stearic acid improves the flowability of RDX and makes it more compatible with other materials, opening up new possibilities for its use.
Composition A-5, for example uses a high percentage of RDX coated with stearic acid.
Finally, our production plans include TNT, a well-established material with diverse industrial applications. We’re committed to producing it safely, responsibly, and to the highest standards of quality.
